Yoga classes in Exeter, book here

My yoga classes run in themes for five weeks.  This allows for people to put in place adaptions to suit their body and learn the different options of each yoga flow that are right for them. After the five weeks you will find each yoga flow published on my blog, with a free interactive copy.  You will find the yoga class for this theme below.

Welcome, yogis of Exeter!

As we kick off another term of yoga classes, I'm thrilled to introduce my latest yoga theme: opening up and strengthening the hips. In this yoga flow, we explore the myriad benefits of hip openers—a practice that not only enhances physical well-being but also promotes emotional release and overall vitality.

For many of us, the hips are an area of the body that often holds tension and tightness. Whether it's from hours spent sitting at a desk, driving, or engaging in physical activities like cycling or running, our hips can become stiff and restricted over time. That's why hip openers are so essential—they offer a pathway to freedom and mobility in one of the body's largest and most important joint complexes.

But the benefits of yoga hip openers extend far beyond mere physical relief. As we release tension and tightness from the hips, we also release stored emotions and energetic blockages, allowing us to feel lighter, brighter, and more aligned with our true selves.

In July's yoga practice, we explored a combination of dynamic movement and restorative yoga stretches to target the various muscle groups of the hips. Key yoga postures included crescent lunges, pigeon posture, and lizard posture—each one designed to stretch, strengthen, and release tension in the hips and surrounding areas.

Why focus on yoga hip openers, you might ask? Well, the benefits are truly remarkable:

  • Improved posture: Tight hips can alter our posture, leading to strain in the spine and discomfort in the legs. By opening up the hips, we promote proper alignment and reduce the risk of postural imbalances.
  • Emotional release: The hips are often referred to as the "storage locker" for emotions, as they can hold onto tension and stress. By releasing tightness in the hips, we create space for emotional release and healing.
  • Enhanced mobility: Opening up the hips increases our range of motion, allowing us to move more freely and gracefully in our daily lives and physical activities.
  • Overall well-being: As we release tension and tightness from the hips, we improve circulation, alleviate pain, and enhance our overall sense of well-being and vitality.

If you're eager to continue exploring the transformative power of yoga hip openers at home, I invite you to follow along with a variation of this month's yoga flow below. With the interactive layout, you can scroll through the yoga sequence, print a copy, or play it in real-time on your screen. Whether you're joining us in the yoga studio or practicing in the comfort of your own home, this accessible and empowering practice is suitable for yogis of all levels.

So, are you ready to unlock the power of your hips and experience greater freedom, mobility, and vitality? I can't wait to see you on the yoga mat and share in the journey together. Let's dive in and explore the magic of hip openers!
